Do Not Sell My Personal Information — Your Rights, Clearly Explained
This page explains exactly what data Quiz Rebel holds about you (almost none), how our advertising works, and how to exercise your full opt-out rights in under 30 seconds.
1. How Quiz Rebel Works — And Why Your Data Stays With You
Quiz Rebel is built on a privacy-first, offline architecture. When you use our Word Unscrambler, Wordle Helper, Anagram Solver, or Scrabble Dictionary, here is exactly what happens:
- Our full dictionary of 178,000+ words is delivered to your browser when you first visit.
- Every search, every letter you type, and every result you see is computed locally on your device — not on our servers.
- Your letters and words never leave your device. There is no API call, no server log, and no record of what you searched for.
2. What Information Quiz Rebel Actually Holds
We want to be precise here, because legal language about “data collection” can be confusing. Here is an honest breakdown:
Information we do NOT collect
- No names or email addresses. Quiz Rebel requires zero registration. There is no sign-up form, no account, and no login — ever. We have no identity data on you.
- No search or word history. As described above, all tool processing is local. We have no record of what letters you typed or what words you found.
- No phone numbers, addresses, or financial information. We have no payment flow and no account system.
Information that may be processed automatically
- Server access logs: Standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and timestamp. These are used solely for uptime monitoring and security. They are not used for advertising and are not sold.
- Cookie consent preference: When you accept or decline our cookie banner, your choice is stored in your browser’s
localStorageunder the keyqr_cookie_consent. This data never leaves your device.
3. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising Cookies
Quiz Rebel is a free service. To keep it free, we display advertisements through Google AdSense. This is the one area where data sharing occurs, and we want to be fully transparent about how it works.
What Google AdSense does
When an ad loads on Quiz Rebel, Google may place a third-party cookie on your browser. Google uses this cookie (known as the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior browsing history across the internet — not based on what you type into our tools.
Is this “selling” personal data under CCPA?
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) defines “sale” broadly to include sharing data with a third party for advertising purposes, even without money changing hands. Under this broad definition, the transfer of your browser identifiers to Google for ad personalization may technically qualify as a “sale” of personal information under California law.
We take this seriously. This is why we provide a clear, easy opt-out mechanism on every page of Quiz Rebel — described in detail below.
What Google does with this data
Google’s use of advertising cookies is governed entirely by Google’s Privacy Policy. Quiz Rebel does not control, access, or profit from the data Google collects via its advertising systems beyond receiving payment for displaying ads.
4. How to Opt Out — Three Ways, Any Time
You have the right to stop the sharing of your browser identifiers with advertising partners at any time. Here are all three ways to do it:
If you have already accepted but want to change your mind, you can reset your consent at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage for quizrebel.com (instructions below).
qr_cookie_consent. The banner will reappear on your next visit, allowing you to choose again.
5. Your Rights Under CCPA & CPRA (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), effective January 1, 2023:
To submit a formal CCPA/CPRA privacy request, email info@quizrebel.com with the subject line “CCPA Privacy Request.” We respond to all verified requests within 15 business days as required by California law, with the possibility of a 45-day extension upon notice.
6. Rights for Other Regions
European Economic Area & United Kingdom (GDPR)
Residents of the EEA and UK have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Contact info@quizrebel.com with the subject “GDPR Request.”
Other Jurisdictions
Even if you are not in California or the EEA, we extend the same transparency and cooperation to all users who contact us with privacy questions. Regardless of where you are located, you can always use our cookie banner “Decline” option to block advertising cookies immediately.
7. Changes to This Notice
We may update this notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The “Effective” date at the top of this page indicates when the current version was last revised. We will not reduce your rights under this notice without your explicit consent.
