NYT Connections Answers Today: Saturday, October 24, 2026 (#1231)

Puzzle #1231 · Updated Saturday, October 24, 2026

Stuck on today's Connections? Start with the nudges below and only open the next hint if you need it. The full solution stays hidden until the last hint. The FAQ at the very bottom spells out everything, so stop before it if you want to keep playing.

Hint 1: Nudges (no spoilers)

  • Yellow: Long and narrow, and they show up in kitchens, newspapers, cameras and maths class.
  • Green: A treat, a toy, a pretend horse and a handheld firework. Look at what holds each one up.
  • Blue: Things on a web page that you did not ask for.
  • Purple: One short word can follow all four. Think snacks, buffets, keyboards and pubs.
Hint 2: Show the category names
  • Yellow: Kinds of strips
  • Green: Things on sticks
  • Blue: Online ad formats
  • Purple: ___ BAR

Add BAR after each word: CANDY BAR, SALAD BAR, SPACE BAR, SPORTS BAR.

Hint 4: Traps to avoid and a solving order (contains spoilers)

BACON, SALAD, CANDY and POPSICLE are all foods, so a food group looks tempting, but they sit in three different groups (strips, bar and sticks). BANNER can be carried on a pole, which makes it a decoy beside the sticks group, yet it belongs with the online ads. COMIC, BANNER and SPACE each have more than one meaning, so test the other meanings before you commit.

One way to play it: start with the online ad formats, because BANNER, INTERSTITIAL, OVERLAY and POP-UP are very specific. Then take the sticks, since all four are things you hold or hang on a stick. Leave strips and the bar group for last: once the other eight words are gone, the shared ending is much easier to spot.
